Inlaid Mahogany Longcase Clock - Woodcock . London
This is a very nice mahogany longcase clock dated circa 1740-50 by William Flag Woodcock , London dating circa 1780 which is in lovely condition
The 12 inch arched brass dial with finely matted centre , subsidiary seconds and date aperture is signed by the maker on strip in the arch above the subsidiary dial for strike / silent.The fine quality five pillar 8 day duration high quality London movement has rack striking and strikes the hours on a bell is in original condition and although functioning well it will be fully and professionally serviced by Overton Clocks of Chesterfield prior to sale. A nice feature is that the antique clock retains its original brass cased weights.
The very attractive case is veneered in the flame mahogany which has developed a warm orange colour and has fan type paterae to the base , trunk and hood. The pagoda shaped hood has brass filled reeded pillars and brass finials and glass to the sides so that the movement can be seen.
As can seen in photographs this clock is in superb condition throughout and will delight the most discerning buyer. Interested parties are encouraged to view the clock as it is actually better in the flesh
