Inlaid Mahogany Bookcase by Edwards and Roberts
A fine quality, and refined, inlaid mahogany bookcase by the prestigious firm of Edwards and Roberts of London. Of excellent construction in the Sheraton revival style in dense solid mahogany timber, now with a wonderful rich colour and patina. The mahogany is decorated throughout with satinwood banding and stringing inlay. The whole bookcase is of break-fronted form and has a series of 3 glazed doors (lockable, with key supplied) over 3 drawers. Each glazed door opens to access a display space with adjustable shelves, providing generous storage/display capacity for books or indeed ornaments. The whole bookcase stands on long elegant tapering legs which terminate in spade feet and are united by an under-tier giving stability and support. This magnificent bookcase is offered for sale in excellent original condition , ready to go straight into the home or office. It splits into two sections for ease of installation.

By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier antique furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp.
