Important Art Nouveau Cabinet
A striking example of the Art Nouveau period, this remarkable cabinet bears the name of "A.Gardener & Son, Cabinet Maker, 36 Jamaica Street, Glasgow", an excellent provenance and showing the unmistakable influence of the Glasgow School and the incomparable Majorelle.
The four fish appear to be a thin pewter and the inlay of flowing water lilies (or elongated mushrooms) show a strong McIntosh influence.
The mirrors are all of bevelled glass, as is the glass in the centre door, another sign of the quality and craftsmanship of this piece. The 2 centre shelves are extravagantly shaped mahogany and covered in the original velvet. The 3 door locks all work to a single key. This cabinet is completely original and no restoration has been undertaken.
Measurements are:
Height: 216cm (85")
Width: 127cm (50"
Depth: 43cm (17") All items are sold with a 14 day money back guarantee. In the unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase, we will gladly issue a refund (excluding carriage costs). The item must be returned in the same condition as it left us. The refund will be issued on the item's return to our premises.
