Henri Jacot striking repeating carriage clock
This strike repeat carriage antique clock by Henri Jacot has a gilded brass case in a variant on the gorge style, with squared corners. Henri Jacot was among the pre-eminent French carriage antique clocks makers of the late 1800s.
It has an eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a gong and with a push button repeat.
The movement backplate is stamped with the Jacot parrot trademark, along with the serial number 3702, with the gong block stamped F.D.. The serial number dates it to around 1880.
The case is also stamped to the underside with the serial number.
The original silvered platform lever escapement has a crescent bridge, with Slow and Fast engraved to the sides. It is stamped to the underside 6283, the escapement maker's serial number.
As was usual for Jacot's carriage clocks at that time, the white enamel dial has Roman numerals, set within an outer minte track with arabic 5-minute numerals.
Blued steel spade hands.
The case and glasses are in perfect condition, and the movement is to be overhauled and guaranteed for 3 years.
