Quality Burr Walnut Music Canterbury / Stand.

Super Design.

This item boasts four generous vertically arranged storage compartments. These are flanked by two beautiful, fluted and tapering classical columns which incorporate a shaped top and are set over a single drawer below. Finally, the piece terminates on four short, turned feet.

Most interesting of all perhaps, are the castors (constructed from brass and earthenware ). Each are stamped with the maker 'Telford and Sanders' and marked 'pro castor'. I have only come across this castor on a few previous occasions - but always on top-end antique furniture of exacting quality. They date the piece to around 1860.

Condition

The top (but ONLY the top) of this piece would benefit from some attention and restoration sadly the veneer here has bubbled in places and there also appears to be a small area of loss that has been touched in with paint to simulate the rest of the burr walnut. This touched-in area is approximately the size of a 10 pence piece. There are also a few factory applied patches (normal), one of which is lifting slighting.

The rest of the piece is in splendid condition and looks wonderful. The colour and pattern of the wood really is marvelous.
