This is a beautiful, very good quality 19th century French gilded metal table lamp with rise and fall action dating from around 1899. The lamp has a cast gilt metal cage shade with its original deep green silk liner which is surmounted with a fabulous regal eagle stood on an orb with wings widespread. The classical finial is capped with a beautiful Romanesque fan with hanging acanthus leaf detail beneath. The lamp has been recently rewired with modern cable so is ready for use. It takes a standard bayonet fitting bulb and measures 58 cms high. The base is 16 cms in diameter and the shade is also 16 cms in diameter.
