Always sought-after and harder to find these days, this is a genuine antique German novelty counter bell in the from of a tortoise.

This example is unpolished with a good natural antique patina.

The bell is mechanical and and when wound up from the underside will give out an authoritative shrill when either the tail or head is pressed. The head retains two small glass eyes.

Dating to around 1900 it remains in full working order and in excellent polished condition measuring 6 3/4" x 3 1/2" x 2 1/4".
