Georgian walnut chest of drawers 18th Century
Antique Georgian 18th Century walnut chest of drawers.
This is a lovely chest, that is full of age and character.
A rare quality piece with clean simple lines. Typical veneer on softwood construction.
The oak lined drawers slide freely. We have no keys and the locks are consequently untested (most locks have been historically changed and the bottom drawer is missing a lock).
There is slight curvature to the drawer fronts, which is charming and a sure sign of age. Crossbanding to the drawer fronts.
Overall maximum dimensions 95cmW x 49cmD x 92cmH.
Historic knocks, marks, cracks, scratches, wear, imperfections, repairs and alterations, as is always the way and to be expected with genuine antique furniture. Veneer cracking and imperfections as is usual for period walnut. Replacement handles and escutcheons. Internal marks and stains to the drawers as is to be expected. There are quite a lot of historical woodworm holes (as is usual with period walnut furniture), believed extinct, that we have treated for good measure. The back and feet have had alterations.
Please note that this item is large and heavy. Please make sure before buying that it will fit in and can be maneuvered into the room that it is intended for. The customer will need to provide 1 (more if an awkward route or stairs are involved) strong able bodied person for our driver to assist with carrying.
