Georgian Style Mahogany Twin Pillar Dining Table
Georgian style mahogany twin pillar dining table
This Georgian style mahogany twin pillar dining table was custom made circa 1900 using redundant Georgian timber.
At that time there was an abundance of antique furniture that was made of wonderful mahogany, but the item was not useful to people in that period. This allowed cabinetmakers who had the eye for good timber to create superb antique tables like the one we offer you here.
The table can be used closed with no leaves or it can be used with either one or both extra leaves in place.
The cabinetmaker made this table in the Georgian/Regency style, a style that is classic and has been popular since the late 18th. century.
The Georgian style mahogany twin pillar dining table is supported by the 2 tripod pedestals. The 3 hipped legs ( a lovely and rare shape) come off the central turned column and end with the original brass claw toes with the rolling castors under.
Imagine the joy you will have as you dine at this table with family and friends, as well as the many envious comments you will receive.
When this table was first commissioned Great Britain was the wealthiest notion on earth and imagine the conversations that were engaged as meals were had. Queen Victoria was in the last year of her life and Edward VII was close to be king. The Boar War was at its end and the country was looking to the brave new century ahead.
