Circa 1870, a mid-Victorian mahogany 2 door cabinet bookcase, in the Georgian style. It has a large mahogany cornice with a rounded top, a concave section beneath and ogee moulding. Beneath this there are 2 glazed doors and simple symmetric glazing bars. These bars are chamfered from front to the back with a rounded edge. The bookcase retains the original glass. Inside are 3 fixed shelves, and beneath the doors there is half round moulding. At the base there are 2 framed doors with mahogany panels. The panels have chamfered corners, softening up the look and effect of the doors. Inside the base there is a single shelf and the bookcase stands on an enclosed plinth.
Size 237cm high x 143cm wide x 50cm deep.
