Georgian Mahogany Tambour Cylinder Bureau desk bureau tambour %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Good small size 18th century George III mahogany tambour cylinder bureau. Good small size. Very nice timber used throughout.

Square tapered legs terminating in brass cup castors. Two drawers which are oak lined, cock-beaded and have their original locks and swan neck handles.

With the tambour opened it reveals a very nice fitted interior which pulls out extensively so it is easy to sit too. The base has a lift up adjustable writing or reading slope. Two small drawers, one of which has a false bottom with secret pull out compartment to the rear. Nicely shaped pigeon holes.

The tambour works perfectly and also has its original matching brass swan neck handle. The top has warped slightly over the years, down in the centre and has therefore been built up slightly at each end to allow the tambour to work properly. This only notices when the tambour is closed.

Lovely original colour and patination only achieved from years of waxing.

SIZES 3 foot wide by 26" deep by 39" high overall
