Georgian Mahogany Mule Chest c.1800.
Late Georgian mahogany mule chest originating from the Welsh Cheshire borders c.1800. As a mule is a cross between a donkey and a horse so the mule chest combines a traditional chest or coffer with a chest of drawers. Lift the top to reveal storage space behind the top three dummy drawer fronts, over a row of three small working drawers and single long drawer in the base. A good looking example of the form with inlaid and crossbanded top and drawer fronts, reeded faux columns to the sides, a good spread of original brass swan neck handles and escutcheon plates and tall bracket feet. Panelled sides and rear. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops.
Dimensions: width 62″, depth 20″, height 32″.
