Georgian mahogany Lady's work box bedside cabinet
This is such a pretty and demure period work box. It is Georgian, dating to around 1820 and is made in solid mahogany with wonderful stringing and inlaid cartouches to the top and front. I love the simplicity of Georgian antique furniture. There is real elegance in this simplicity and this small cabinet is a gem. The cabinet stands on tapering legs. The legs too are inlaid with box wood stringing. The legs terminate in pretty brass casters. The Georgians were brilliant with brass. The box has a hinged lid with internal chamfers.
The mahogany is well polished and the condition is good. There is an old repair to the back top edge by the hinges - see photo.
I love furnishing pieces like this. It will look good in a principal room or equally could be used as a small bedside cabinet. Good piece for a period setting.
The Lady's work box is 14.5 inches wide and 11.5 inches deep and 26 inches high.
This will post anywhere in UK for £16.50
