Georgian Mahogany Bureau Bookcase
A beautiful piece of Georgian antique furniture that appears to have had slight alterations approximately 100 years ago. Nothing serious, but we would always mention something that is obvious to ourselves. The main alteration being the carved mahogany beading to the plinth and base of the bookcase top. We feel that these would have been plain mahogany beads in their day. At the same time the bookcase has been repolished and the handles replaced with copies of the originals. Please don't let this put you off, a great many pieces of antique furniture have had alterations and restorations over their lifespan, we just like to be as honest about it. This piece is a good looker, with a dentil cornice and blind fretwork below. The astragal glazed doors conceal three beautiful adjustable shelves. Just above the well fitted interior are the original candle slides and below that are two over three oak lined drawers, with reeded canted corners to the slides all set above the simple bracket feet. A great usable piece of Georgian elegance in very good condition for it's 200 + years of age. All cleaned and wax polished in our workshops and ready to use and enjoy.
