WILLIAM BLANCHARD, HULL Circa 1820
A quality Georgian longcase clock of good proportions. An oak case with mahogany crossbanding in a typical Hull area case. A 'Hull pagoda' pediment surmounted by 2 original brass finials and a marquetry inlay. An arched trunk door with banded edging. An arched painted dial with romantic scene to the arch and Georgian fan corner decorations with the original giltwork. Date and seconds dials. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.
William Blanchard of Hull is recorded in Loomes' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working from 1813-1823.
