A Georgian Flame Mahogany Chest on Chest
This superb piece of antique furniture dates from around 1830, it is was a greatly favoured piece because of the great amount of storage it gives
The chest stands on splayed bracket shaped feet, the base section has three long drawers and the upper section is the normal two short over three longer graduated drawers. The top of the piece is set off with a plain regency style cornice and an ebony inlay decoration
The oak lined drawers are cock beaded as you would expect, the knobs and escutcheons are brass

The chest has a wonderful patina, there have been a few very minor repairs over the years but they are very well done and difficult to spot. There is a tiny piece of cock beading missing and slight chipping on the veneers
A superb piece of Country House Chic and it is not too tall to look superb in a country cottage
