George IV Mahogany Bedside Cabinets mahogany bedsides bedside cabinets %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Circa 1820, matching and original pair of George IV mahogany bedside cabinets. The bedsides have a three quarter wrap around gallery with stylish cut out handles on the left and right, rounded corners and a dip at the front. Beneath this at the front there is a single door which has a panel in the centre. Both cabinets are left-handed. When the cabinets open inside there is a slatted base on both. Beneath this there is a small flat apron and the cabinets stand on 4 stylish thin tapering legs. The top of the legs continue the beading and as it tapers down there is further turning. Towards the base is a cross over stretcher with similar styling to the legs. It is rare to find matching pairs of cabinets surviving from this period. The pair of bedside cabinets have many characteristics of Mein of Kelso with the legs with ribbing at the top, crossover stretchers and with the ribbing left and right and the block in the centre.
