Here is a top quality example of an antique French Louis XVI revival carved walnut upholstered couch, circa 1860, from the 2nd Empire period, in excellent condition. The couch is constructed of solid walnut and features a stunning quality carved floral frame. The couch stands on elegant cabriole legs all round. The couch has been newly upholstered in top quality luxurious embroidered floral silk damask upholstery, in a fawn colour. The couch features scroll arms shaped backs,shaped sides and a serpentine front. The back rail features stunning floral carvings to the central pediment the frame also boasts carved cartouches and knees. The couch stands on elegant cabriole legs. The seat is firmly sprung so that you do not sink into the seats but at the same time is extremely comfortable. The underside of the seat is finished with traditional hessian backing.
This couch features a rich brown walnut colour. As it boasts the original polish it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. It is impossible to re-create this colour if it has been re-polished.
