This is a very elegant 19th century French Empire style lamp with oil reservoir encircled by a gilt bronze pierced band decorated with four ram's heads and supported on cloven hoof feet, circa 1870. It is raised on a short circular column above a bronze painted stepped marble stand on 4 spherical brass feet. It has been converted to electricity and would make quite a statement when paired with a coolie shade as is shown in one of the photographs.

Condition: The oil lamp is in fine antique condition without damage. There is some rubbing of the bronze coloured paint on the marble plinth revealing the white marble underneath but it does little to detract from its overall appearance. It has been given a generous length of fabric covered 3 core cable and has been high voltage tested.
