This is a very good quality antique French mahogany lit en bateau bed sleigh, circa 1840. The bed originates from the French Empire period and is constructed of lovely figured mahogany. The front features moulded panels on bracket feet. Each end of the bed is of equal height and features scroll ends. The bed boasts its original sprung base with the original upholstery (it’s very rare to see the original upholstery still intact). This type of bed was designed to sit against a wall. Two supported curtains were usually centered above and drawn back behind the head and footboard. We offer an upholstery service and can re-upholster the sprung base in the customer’s chosen fabric if preferred. This is a one-piece bed and does not dismantle.

This item would look great in a variety of rooms especially the landing, bedroom or drawing room. It has a beautiful deep rich patina, which has been generated by the years of cleaning and care it has received.

This truly is a very beautiful item with quality construction and is original throughout. It is rare to see one in such good condition. This item would certainly grace any home. So don't miss out your chance to own such a lovely antique item.
