An unusual French four glass mantle antique clock by Couaillet Freres c1895. The clock is in a rectangular brass case with bevelled glass panels. Stepped base surmounted by a triangular pediment overlaid with a trailing ribbon and floral motif. Dentilated mouldings to frieze and base. White enamelled dial with black roman numerals and blued steel hands. An 8-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a coiled gong. Mercury compensated pendulum with Brocot suspension. Movement stamped with maker's name (Couaillet Fres) within a medallion. Supplied with brass winding key. The clock is 31.5 cm (maximum) in height. Base measures 17.5 cm width and 13.5 cm depth. Excellent time-keeper. Watch a video of it striking on our website.
