Fine Walnut Cocktail Cabinet On Giltwood Base
A fine quality figured walnut cocktail drinks cabinet / dry bar with fitted interior on carved giltwood base.
English, Circa 1920.
Finely constructed, the carved cornice over a pair of quarter veneered figured walnut doors having ornate pierced brass exterior hinges and matching lock plate, opening to reveal a fitted interior with adjustable glass shelves, mirrored base and twin pull-out drinks slides.
Raised on a carved giltwood base having a greek key frieze with central carved dogs head supported by four extremely well carved rams head cabriole legs with trailing folate carvings terminating on hairy paw feet.
In excellent original condition having been wax polished with a superb natural honey colour and patina.
It is very rare to find a cocktail cabinet of this model having a gilt base of this type, one which would have been made by a leading cabinet maker of its era.
