Fine George 3rd Edinburgh Mahogany Tea Table Georgian Scottish Edinburgh %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
FINE top quality late 18th century Scottish, Edinburgh made mahogany and burr elm cross banded tea table. The design and form of this table is typical of antique furniture made in Edinburgh in the late 18th to early 19th century. It is of the highest quality, made from the best of timbers which becomes very obvious when you try lifting it.

The tops are made from beautiful solid mahogany with a wide burr elm cross banding and boxwood line inlay. The table is finished all round with boxwood and ebony line inlays and reed moulded decoration to the corners. The base consists of four beautifully turned thin columns, a small platform base and lovely shape swept legs terminating in original brass castors. The legs are reeded on the tops and have their original large turned patera to the tops on both sides.

The table is a lovely rich colour and is in very good original condition. I can't actually see a repair anywhere. Possibly sympathetically re-finished in the 19th century.
