Fine Chinese Carved Rosewood Altar Painting Table
AUGUST SALE. REDUCED PRICES UNTIL THE END OF THE MONTH!
A beautiful and fine example of a carved hardwood altar or painting table, hand-crafted during the late Qing Dynasty (c.1880). Of large and imposing dimensions.
The rectangular top consists of a fine single plank, enclosed by cleated ends and moulded sides. This is set above a carved frieze of fluid, scrolling foliate design, interspersed with fruiting peach boughs.
Raised on partially carved legs, the stretchers inset with 'fish belly' framed mouldings.
The feet finely detailed with greek key motifs and further tightly carved whorls to the cross-members.
This really is a superb example of its type, coming to me from a fine period Cotswold property where it had been carefully looked after for some 40 years by the previous owner.
A standout decorator's piece which would make a beautiful statement in a hallway, passageway or as the centrepiece in a living room of a country property or fine town house alike.
UK delivery (excluding highlands, Islands and Ireland) is included in the price.
