Exceptional Dutch Marquetry Armoire / Wardrobe
Offered for sale is this incredibly fine and rare Dutch Marquetry and penwork armoire or wardrobe, dating from the early 19th century c.1830.
Provenance From a private country house in Cumbria.
The outstanding armoire is profusely inlaid overall with urns, flowers, leaves and exotic birds. The reeded, moulded pediment shows fine detail and is above a pair of double panel doors with ornately carved moulded slips to the fore-edge and corners. The armoire sits on a plinth base with squat feet, both the base and sides have fine marquetry decoration.
This is an impressive and practical size, measuring 62" wide and 84" high.
The armoire has great storage capacity, the interior hanging space measures 5ft wide, 57" high and 18" deep. The shelf space above is 5ft wide, 18" high and 18" deep.
The original key is present.
This is a sectional wardrobe and dismantles into manageable parts for ease of transport.
This can be delivered to most UK destinations by our antique furniture courier for £60 plus VAT.
