Here is a fine quality antique George III oak farmhouse low joined enclosed dresser base sideboard, circa 1760, originating from the county of Shropshire, England. It boasts a stunning rich colour and is in good condition. This dresser boasts possibly the best colour and patination achievable from oak of this period. Comprising of a wide two-plank top, which is finished with a simple moulded edge, the base incorporates three drawers, decorated with scribe moulding. The drawers are oak lined and constructed with primitive butt joints. They feature the original brass swan neck handles, brass back plates, which are all of top quality, along with the original working locks (including key). Below, there are three prominent fielded panel doors with decorated shaped tops.

The fielded panel door panels have been constructed in the traditional peg method. The doors incorporate later brass “H” hinges, which are also very good quality. The interior of the base incorporates shelves. The left cupboard door allows the storage of taller items, as it incorporates a narrow shelf, whereas the two doors on the right feature shelves which are the depth of the whole interior. The sides of the dresser feature solid oak fielded panels, with a simple moulded reeded frieze below, raised on the original block feet. The dresser retains its original pine backboards.

As this dresser boasts the original polish, it has a stunning rich oxblood colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received. This dresser boasts possibly the best colour and patination achievable from oak of this period.

This dresser is an excellent investment and would look superb in a variety of rooms from the kitchen, hall way or the dining room. This dresser base would certainly grace any home. So don't miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
