Description:
This is a fine quality and original antique English Edwardian beech Bentwood demi-lune hallstand, in the manner of Thonet, circa 1910, in excellent original condition. The top section features a crown of 4-curved “s” shaped coat hooks above a large central turned column, which is topped with a turned beehive finial. Further below, the base features a demi-lune ring, which supports umbrellas and sticks. Three curved twin legs support the hallstand firmly on the ground. The fact that the hallstand stands against a wall makes this a sturdier hallstand than those with four legs. The fact that this is a demi-lune shaped hallstand makes it more unusual and sought after, compared to four leg hallstands. It is ideal in narrow hallways, as it takes up less apace, as it can be placed against the wall, thus saving space.
This item features a rich dark brown colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in the hallway or an office. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
Condition Report:
The item is in excellent and original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination. Importantly, there are no missing hooks or hook knobs (unlike others you see for sale). There are also no breaks to the arms / hooks (which is very common with these types of hallstands). This is a single piece item. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
