Elegant French Giltwood Sofa
An elegant French Louis XVI style gilt-wood sofa of superb quality.
C1880.
With an excellent quality beech wood structure, adorned with delightful high quality neo-classical carvings, having a wonderful carved cresting, with pretty foliate designs.
The padded back, arms and seat are flanked by acanthus carved uprights to the arms, Standing on four fluted, tapering cylindrical legs.
Covered with a rich red and bronze/gold damask fabric.
The condition is excellent antique condition, strong and sturdy, the fabric is in very good un-worn condition. The gilding is fresh and bright with a naturally minor distressed finish.
