Edwardian Large Harris Lebus Mahogany Wardrobe
A lovely inlaid mahogany triple wardrobe. We date this wardrobe to the early 20th century.
The wardrobe is supplied in five sections the drawer base, two hanging sections, a separate cornice and a central pinned mirrored panel.
The wardrobe consists of three panels, the two side panels are side hinged doors and the fixed centre panel is fitted with a mirror.
The doors have an attractive inlaid design at the top, the doors and drawers have a matching inlaid pattern around the edges. Below the cornice there is a lovely diamond patterned inlay front and sides.
The interior of the wardrobe is split into two halves both having a side to side hanging rail and brass hooks to each side.
The doors are fitted with attractive brass drop handles that turn to operate the catch. The doors are fitted with locks (key is supplied).
The base section has two large deep side by side drawers fitted with two drop handles mounted on decorative round backplates.
The wardrobe has a height of 83" (211cm), a cornice width of 64" (163cm) and a cornice depth of 22.5" (57cm).
The wardrobe has an internal hanging depth of 18.5” (47cm).
This lovely wardrobe remains in very good solid condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There is some minor wear to some surfaces and edges including chips missing from the left hand side rear corner of the cornice and below at the base. There are some old repairs including the beading on the opening edge of the right hand side door and the mirror has some minor foxing.
This remains a very stylish and elegant wardrobe which will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
