Early C20th Continental Armoire

This antique armoire dates from the early twentieth century, and we believe it to be of continental origins. It is made from what we believe to be some type of fruitwood, some solid, some veneered over solid wood. Please note that the armoire does have some alteration and damage and would benefit from some restoration work. It has double doors which open to reveal a hanging section - this is a later alteration as the armoire would originally have been shelved. Beneath the hanging section inside is a shelf with two small drawers beneath, and beneath this is an open gap. One of the small drawers has a small turned wooden handle and the other has a lock. The wardrobe door also retains its lock, but please note that no keys are present. The armoire is supported on shaped feet at the front and square legs at the back. The piece can be dismantled for ease of transportation.
Condition: Overall this piece is in basic usuable condition , but does need some restoration work. It has been altered and repaired over the years and the original shelves are missing. The hanging rail is a more recent addition. There is no base to the piece. There is some heavy scuffing and wear to the woodwork with some wood loss in places and the piece is overall faded. One of the top front corners has some significant water damage - the veneers are lifted and the blocks at the top which hold the retaining bolt have disintegrated and require replacement. There is a piece of moulding detached from one side - this is present. One of the wardrobe doors is bowed. There are some signs of old woodworm damage - this has been treated.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 213cm high, 136cm wide, 57cm deep (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
