Deacon of Barton 8 day Longcase clock

An 8day Longcase antique clock by Deacon of Barton in the beans (Leicestershire). This is a round dial example in an all oak case which is of a design almost unique to this part of Leicestershire as its thought Samuel Deacon's relative was a casemaker. It's fretted out pediment design is very attractive and many examples are collected by clock collectors. The 8 day movement is also unique as can be seen from the photograph. See the distinctively turned brass pillars of the movement and concealed barrel springs. It's a beautiful made movement and considering its age in immaculate condition.
The painted dial is by Wilson of Birmingham c1785 who was supplying many dials to clock makers around the country at this the start of painted dials which had took over from brass dials.
The case is a dark oak colour with some mahogany decorations. It's a narrow case with long trunk door giving it an attractive simple appearance
