A delightful Coty, New York powder compact in the form of a book. This super compact is gold tone with engine turned decoration giving a deep textured look on the cover and spine and is constructed to give the appearance of a closed book. The body overhangs slightly making the clasp hidden from view. It also has side walls which form the pages of the book. This ingenious compact is incredibly tactile. It opens to reveal a framed bevelled mirror. The lid of the powder well bears the Coty signature. The underside of the inner lid is covered with flocking (which is unusual) and it comes with the original puff which bears the Coty signature. It comes with its original protective case.

This lovely powder compact is in excellent condition. The body shows little signs of wear with only minor surface scratches. There is a little tarnish along the bottom inner edge near the clasp. The mirror has some silvering but is still useable. There is a long surface scratch across the Coty signature on the inner lid to the powder well which can be seen in one of the photographs. The flocked inner lid and original puff are in excellent condition. The clasp closes with a firm click. The protective case is in excellent condition with some surface marks commensurate with age.
