A well proportioned Chinoiserie Lacquered Georgian longcase clock. A dark green case with the original giltwork to the case depicting Chinese scenes. A pagoda pediment surmounted by 3 finials. Front columns and rear quarters with glass side apertures. An arched brass and silvered dial with date and seconds dials. A quality 5-pillar, 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.
Thomas Burges of Gosport, Hampshire is recorded in Baillies' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' as working before 1740 and to circa 1750.
