This is a stunning late 19th century profusely carved Chinese hongmu (rosewood) plant stand with a marble inset top. The circular top with beaded edge is supported on four cabriole legs joined by stretchers near their base. Legs and stretchers bear foliate carving but it is the shaped frieze with its fretwork of cherry blossom which is a tour de force of the woodcarver's skill.

This plant stand would also make a very stylish drinks table or pot stand.

Condition: The stand is in lovely antique condition with all joints solid. The carving is all present as originally conceived with the exception of one missing bud on the base of the frieze.
