This is a stunning early 20th century Chinese brass tray top table on a rosewood folding base comprising 6 legs. The top is finely engraved with numerous animals including dragons, an elephant, goat, ox, squirrel and cranes among others, arranged in two bands: an outer band on the rim and an inner wider band surrounding a central design of Chinese characters. The edge of the tray is finished in simulated bamboo. The base too is of fine quality with reticulated corner brackets on the top and bottom of each leg.

It is higher than a typical coffee table so would make an excellent drinks table or an occasional/lamp table. If required for only occasional use the tray top can be easily lifted from the base, the base folded, and the two stored upright against a wall.
