Condition Report
The coffer is original and features the original iron loop hinges, original floor, top, sides and back. The coffer stands on the original 7” style feet, which is very rare to see. Part of the original iron clasp and lock are missing (see photos). There is no key. There has been a very old repair to the back of the coffer near where the right hand iron loop hinge attaches to back of the coffer (see photos). This old repair is sold in joint and the lid opens freely. There are no splits to the tops sides or bottom of the coffer. There is a slight bow to the coffer top however this inevitable due to its age and the fact that it’s a single piece top. The interior is clean, dry and the coffer is practical and useable. The coffer is free of active woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use. Considering the age of this very early coffer, it is in very good condition and does not detract from its attractive appeal.
