This is a very good quality cased set of six silver plated fruit spoons and a large silver plated fruit serving spoon in their original box. The spoons are made in Birmingham by Sanders & Blackband and date to the late 1920s / early 1930s. The spoons are double struck (ie the pattern is on both sides) with a fan & bead design at the finial and a thread down both sides of the stem.

Frederic William Sanders & Herbert Blackband founded their company in 1915 after the dissolution of George Benton & Co, in which they had been partners, following the retirement of George Benton. They produced good quality silver plated tableware and high end bathroom accessories up until the early 1950s.

These fruit spoons are in very good condition with no dings, dents or plate loss and only the superficial wear you would expect after 80 to 90 years. The box is in excellent condition with only a couple of tiny marks. The outside clasps close the box securely and the clasp inside the lid holds the serving spoon safely in place. The six fruit spoons are each 14cm long, whilst the serving spoon is 22cm long. The full set weighs 241g.

The underside of the stems are stamped with S & B for Sanders & Blackband, EPNS & A1 (the best quality silver plate). They also have the registered design number 708938 stamped on the stems, which dates the design to 1924.
