A stylish Chinese camphor wood chest, carved with figures in fighting scenes and dating from circa 1930s-1950s. With deeply carved reliefs on the top and front of soldiers on horseback fighting within a landscape of pagodas and mountains, on stepped bracket feet. The sides and back are also carved. To the front are two carved hand handles along with its original fancy brass latch to the lid and brass lock. Inside, the chest is clean and is lined with camphor wood with its distinctive aroma and has a removable tray. Some good deep detailed carving to the top and front. Would make a great blanket chest, storage box or could be used as a decorative coffee table or TV stand.
