Late 19th.c. military officer’s campaign chest c.1890. In solid camphorwood, a fragrant and pest resistant timber which helped protect contents during passage, further strengthened with brass corners and bindings. Flush-fitting brass handle to the lid, and carry handles to each side. With a pencil inscription inside the lid for one Henry M Dunbar of the British army barracks at Gun Club Hill, Kowloon, Hong Kong. Some splits to the timber in the base, otherwise very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
Dimensions: width 39″, depth 19″, height 18″.
