Camphorwood Campaign Chest c.1880. camphor wood campaign %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Classic late 19th.c. military campaign chest c.1880. Particularly attractive dark colour, in solid camphor wood, a fragrant and pest resistant timber used in campaign antique furniture as it helped protect the contents during travel in foreign climes. Superior design with a moulded plinth at the base. Exceptional original colour and patina. The handle on the lid is probably a later addition whilst the carry handles and brass bindings (partially incomplete) are original.
Dimensions: width 40½”, depth 21″, height 20″.
