Fine example of the classic late 19th.c. military officer’s campaign chest c.1880. Constructed from particularly well-figured solid camphorwood boards, a fragrant and pest resistant timber which helped protect contents during passage. Further strengthened with brass corners and bindings, with a flush fitting handle to the lid and heavy duty brass carry handles to each side. Excellent condition and an attractive pale colour, cleaned and polished. Original lock, key supplied.
