Brynmawr Cotswold School Occasional Table c1930's

1 of 5
A Brynmawr Furniture Co oak occasional/coffee table c1930's in the Cotswold School style. Made with a combination of solid oak and oak plywood, having a below shelf and stands on splayed chamfered legs.
The table was purchased from the son of Gwyn Lewis Thomas who worked at Brynmawr Furniture Factory from 1932 as a 14 year old apprentice. After completing his apprenticeship, Gwyn worked as a qualified cabinet maker working under the guidance of Paul Matt. He made various pieces of antique furniture within the factory, and was able to keep the pieces for personal use, which have remained in the family home. The furniture he made utilised the designs and structure recognisable only to the Gwalia Factory (Brynmawr).
Employees at the factory were not allowed to attach the factory badge on any of the pieces they made themselves and therefore no badge is present, but I can provide provenance from the family.
In good condition, no damage or repairs.

36cmH Our stock items are carefully selected by myself and I only buy good quality items which may need small repairs, a clean and a polish. I don't buy any items that need major restoration, but any loose joints are re-glued. Occasionally, some items may have small amounts of historic extinct woodworm, never enough to affect the integrity of the item, and is always treated as a matter of course. We try to describe and show our items the best we can, and we use studio lighting which sometimes lightens the colour slightly on some of the furniture. All lamps are rewired and PAT tested. Every item we sell we would have in our home (some of them have been!!) It is impossible to describe every item fully, so please feel free to email or call for more information or any queries you may have. The items will have no major defects but will show signs of normal age related wear and use. I would prefer the items to show its life rather than strip it and re-polish it, as it's only original once!
