This is an old and good example of a Dayak head hunters parang from north Borneo probably Sarawak the handle is made from carved deer bone There’s a hole at the top that would have taken a tuft of human hair The handle bound with woven wire with a band of ratan this Above the blade which is 60 cm long engraved and cut It’s a very heavy blade and still holds a very sharp edge. The scabbard is carved and bound with bamboo and has its original ratan straps this would date from around 1860-70
