Boer War Carved Smokers Pipe Trench Art Tobacciana 1st Scots Guards. Silver Mounted with Birmingham 1901 hallmarks, made by Adolph Frankau & Co. The silver mount and pipe bowl are also marked BBB for Best British Briar.
I would imagine this started life as a plain pipe with a nice curved stem. And was carved at a later date.
The name BBB is stamped on the side of the bowl
and I believe this to be the original makers mark for Best British Briar. It has the carving for The 1st Scots Guards with there badge/emblem and South Africa also carved on the bowl.
