Beautiful Early 19th Century Walnut Chest on Stand
A very beautiful small walnut chest on stand. The drawers open smoothly and close properly and each is oak lined with finely dovetailed joints, original brass single drop handles and hand cast escutcheons. The upper chest with two short over two long drawers, the stand with single long drawer and all set on flattened bun feet with some wear and small losses.
In excellent condition, made by a very skilled hand in the traditional manner and incorporating 17th century elements but in my view this primarily early 19th Century. The locks original throughout and with a working key. A very small amount of old worm holes to side panels and back boards, long since treated and dead.
Of strikingly elegant proportions, the upper case lifts off the stand which has oak top and bottom boards and raised moulded walnut borders. Very heavy indeed and virtually indistinguishable from an early 17th Century petite Queen Anne chest.
Perfect for a cottage, a very eye catching small and good quality walnut chest, completely usable and utterly charming.
Dimensions are:
25.5 inches wide, 18 inches deep and 37 inches high.
For metric please multiply by 2.5 I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.
I operate a full refund guarantee and am always happy to give free, honest and friendly advice.
