Arts & Crafts Writing Desk by Shapland & Petter
Arts & Crafts single pedestal quarter sawn oak writing desk, made by Shapland & Petter of Barnstaple c1910, having the registration number to the back and stamped on the locks S&PB. The desk has a tooled black skiver with a useful pull-out slide to the left, a single drawer and three graduating side drawers with original copper and brass handles, and stands on typical S&P shaped legs and feet.
In good original clean condition, very little to no wear on the drawer runners.
77.5cmH x 92cmW x 53.5cmD
Kneehole height 61.5cm Our stock items are carefully selected by myself and I only buy good quality items which may need small repairs, a clean and a polish. I don't buy any items that need major restoration, but any loose joints are re-glued. Occasionally, some items may have small amounts of historic extinct woodworm, never enough to affect the integrity of the item, and is always treated as a matter of course. We try to describe and show our items the best we can, and we use studio lighting which sometimes lightens the colour slightly on some of the furniture. All lamps are rewired and PAT tested. Every item we sell we would have in our home (some of them have been!!) It is impossible to describe every item fully, so please feel free to email or call for more information or any queries you may have. The items will have no major defects but will show signs of normal age related wear and use. I would prefer the items to show its life rather than strip it and re-polish it, as it's only original once!
