Art Nouveau Brass Vase, Beldray, c.1900-1910
This is a very elegant Art Nouveau brass vase from the early years of the 20th century. The vase is made by Beldray in Bilston, Wolverhampton and dates to the period 1900-1910. It has a tall slender neck rising from a bulbous base and the shoulders are decorated with an Art Nouveau motif.
Beldray was the trade name of Bradley & Co (it's an anagram of Bradley), a metalworking company founded in 1872. Initially a maker of copper kettles, starting around 1900 and up to 1939 they made a range of copper and brass art metal for more decorative use around the home. Before WWI they concentrated on Art Nouveau designs including this stunning vase. The company still exists producing functional domestic items today.
The vase has seen seem use and does have a few small dings but overall condition would best be described as "good used". The brass has a wonderful colour and patina. It is watertight and perfectly usable as a vase today or makes a wonderful decorative piece. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The vase is 26.5cm high and 17.5cm in diameter at its widest point. It weighs 535g.
