Art Deco 'Folies Bergeres' Wall Plaque
This is a super rare opportunity to acquire one of these beautifully reduced versions of the facade bas-relief of the Folies-Bergeres cabaret by Maurice Picaud aka Pico (1900-1977).
Background
He was a French architect, interior designer and one time designer for Ruhlmann furniture who created the dancing lady facade over the entrance to the Folies Bergeres building in Paris in 1926. The facade depicts the dancer Lila Nikolska, who posed for the sculpture.
What you are buying
This beautiful plaque is a limited edition of 50. We have less than a handful left. Made from plaster and applied gold gilding/ spray . The panel measures 60cm by 60cm and weighs almost 10kg. Two hooking eyelets are on the back. This mold is directly taken from the reduced versions made by Pico. The artist is a newly retired artist who worked in Paris up until last year for 40 years as a conservationist /restorer to all the major museums in Paris, mostly restoring art work and paintings. His credentials are excellent.
Each plaque is hand painted /gilded and will show variants, no one single one is identical to the next, however the nuances are slight and not so different to be noteworthy
