Art Deco Chrome Stamp Holder, British, c.1940s
This is a stylish Art Deco Chrome Stamp Holder. The holder is engine turned to front and back with the word STAMPS in an oblong cartouche on the front. The interior is gold washed and split into 3 compartments.
There is no makers' mark on the stamp holder but there is a registered design number showing that the design was first created in 1940 and that it is a British piece.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents, no significant wear to the gold washed interior and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected with use and the passage of time. The hinge and clasp are in good working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The stamp holder measures 7.2cm / 2.8ins by 3.8cm / 1.5ins and weighs 28.4g / 1oz.
The interior of the holder is stamped UK and Rd 837577, showing that it is British and the design was registered in 1940.
