Antique Victorian Mahogany Narrow Bureau Bookcase
Lovely Antique Victorian Mahogany Bureau Bookcase and dating from around 1870. Constructed from quality solid mahogany it has a swan neck Pedament top with gilt brass mounts and with gilt brass finial to the centre above a cross banded frieze with inlaid stringing and with two glazed doors with original lock and working key and with three internal adjustable shelves.
The base has a brass escutcheon to the cross banded fall front which opens to reveal a very nice interior with contrasting shaped frieze over six pigeon holes either side of a central door with inlaid strung edge and inlaid shell to the centre and with original working key. To either side there are four contrasting satinwood small drawers with mahogany inlaid stringing and with small brass ring handles. It has its original writing surface which is in aged but good condition. The desk sits above four graduating drawers all of which are oak lined with brass handles and brass key escutcheons. It stands on bracket feet.
